Alabama Beat Georgia to Win the College Football National Championship Alabama staged an all-time great comeback to beat Georgia on Monday night, a game where they were trailing 13-0 at halftime. Alabama head coach Nick Saban switched quarterbacks at halftime, playing true freshman Tua Tagovailoa from Hawaii. Tagovailoa threw three touchdowns and one interception in the second half and overtime to help the Crimson Tide to the school's 17th national championship. With six national championship victories, Saban is now tied with college football legend Bear Bryant for the most all-time.
